SHOUT – Trainee Music Promoter

PLACEMENT SUPPORTED THROUGH YOUTH MUSIC’S INCUBATOR FUND THANKS TO FUNDING FROM PLAYERS OF PEOPLE’S POSTCODE LOTTERY.

From The Fields are delighted to be advertising two funded positions with us, which will enable the successful applicants to train to become music promoters.

WHO ARE FROM THE FIELDS?

From The Fields is a team of creative minds who produce the award-winning festival brands Kendal Calling, Bluedot, Off The Record, Bournemouth Arts By The Sea, Cleethorpes Festival Of The Sky, Inner City Electronic, plus promoting standalone concerts.

WHAT IS SHOUT?

SHOUT is a new initiative from the team at From The Fields, funded by Youth Music, and will support two new promoters in Manchester to build sustainable music promotions businesses by giving them access to training, resources and opportunities, using From The Fields’ networks, experience and guidance.

As there is a distinct lack of diversity amongst music promoters in the UK, we will only be assessing applicants who are 18-25 years old, and from a black, asian or other ethnic minority background, as we want to encourage a more diverse and representative industry.

WHAT DOES THE TRAINING INCLUDE?

The trainee position will be paid based on a living wage of £10/hr – with a commitment of 12 hours per week from each trainee for 39 weeks.

The training will include access to: coaches and mentors, education and training, workspace, professional and peer networks, conferences, workshops, seminars, business development support, funding access support and help to develop a freelance career.

Support and funding will cover resources needed e.g. laptops and internet access.

This will be assessed according to the needs of the successful applicants, and is subject to restrictions on the amounts available.

What commitment does the training require?

12 hours per week training from October 2021 to June 2022.

Exact times and dates will be tailored to the successful applicants, ensuring that other commitments are taken into account e.g other employment

This can be virtual or in-person time. In-person meetings and training will be preferred, if restrictions and availability allow.

Training will consist of a mix of job shadowing, training sessions with industry professionals, and relevant and suitable tasks.
